Computers & Equipment
Public Access Computers
PLEASE NOTE: Beginning in May 2019, the Library will undergo a major renovation of its interior spaces. Public computing resources will be limited for the subsequent eighteen to twenty-four months. During the construction period, the available public computers will be Google Chromebooks, which are a type of laptop. The Library’s free Wi-Fi will remain operational.
Public computers are accessible on a first-come, first-served basis. Please remember to bring your library card or identification with you when visiting the library and a USB flash drive if you need to save your work.
Wireless Internet Access
The East Meadow Public Library offers free Wi-Fi. The Library’s public wireless network SSID is Library.
If you need to print from your device, please utilize the Library’s MobilePrint service.
When using the Wi-Fi, please adhere to the Library’s Policy on Public Use of the Internet. Kindly visit or call a librarian (794-2570, option 2) at the Reference Desk if you have any questions.
All public access computers are connected to a networked laser printer. Need to print from home or your own device? Check out MobilePrint.
Black and white printing is charged for at ten cents per page. Color charge is thirty cents per page.
Funds to be used for printing can be added to your account in one of two ways:
- By utilizing the Add Value Station (coins and bills only) located near the Reference Desk copier or
- By using your credit card, debit card, or PayPal account.
Please Note: Deposited funds cannot be used at other libraries.
MobilePrint is a service that allows you to print from your laptop, tablet, smartphone, or home computer and release the job on a Library printer. Click the blue MobilePrint button at the top of the page to learn more.
There are copiers located near the Circulation and Reference Desks. The cost for a black & white copy is 10 cents. Color copying is available on the same machine at a cost of 30 cents per page. All copiers accept coins and $1 bills. The copiers adjacent to the entrance also accept bulk copy cards (which are sold at the Circulation Desk).
Learning Computers and iPads
Two desktop computers and five iPads pre-loaded with educational software applications are available for use inside the Children’s Room by children and their parents or guardian. iPads must remain inside the Children’s Room and are restricted to EM School District residents with proper identification.
An electric typewriter is available for public use at the Reference Desk.
As of June 22, 2019, the Library’s fax service has been suspended due to construction. We anticipate resuming the fax service in the Fall.
The copiers located near the entrance can be used to scan documents or photos to a compatible USB flash drive. The fee is $0.05 per page.
The digital microfilm scanner is unavailable while the Library undergoes renovation.
