Public Access Computers
PLEASE NOTE: Beginning in May 2019, the Library will undergo a major renovation of its interior spaces. Public computing resources will be limited for the subsequent eighteen to twenty-four months. During the construction period, the available public computers will be Google Chromebooks, which are a type of laptop. The Library’s free Wi-Fi will remain operational.
Public computers are accessible on a first-come, first-served basis. Please remember to bring your library card or identification with you when visiting the library and a USB flash drive if you need to save your work.
Wireless Internet Access
The East Meadow Public Library offers free Wi-Fi. The Library’s public wireless network SSID is Library.
If you need to print from your device, please utilize the Library’s MobilePrint service.
When using the Wi-Fi, please adhere to the Library’s Policy on Public Use of the Internet. Kindly visit or call a librarian (794-2570, option 2) at the Reference Desk if you have any questions.
Visitors to the Library have access to a business-grade monochrome and color printer. Need to print from home or your own device? Check out MobilePrint.
Black and white printing is charged for at ten cents per page. Color charge is thirty cents per page.
Funds to be used for printing can be added to your account in one of two ways:
- By utilizing the Add Value Station (coins and bills only) located near the copiers or
- By using your credit card, debit card, or PayPal account.
Please Note: Deposited funds cannot be used at other libraries.
Hotspot Lending Program
The hotspot lending program is a free service that allows EMPL adult cardholders to borrow a mobile hotspot device and connect to the internet from almost anywhere!
MobilePrint is a service that allows you to print from your laptop, tablet, smartphone, or home computer and release the job on a Library printer. Click the blue MobilePrint button at the top of the page to learn more.
There are copiers located near the new book collection. The cost for a black & white copy is 10 cents. Color copying is available on the same machine at a cost of 30 cents per page. All copiers accept coins and $1 bills. The copiers adjacent to the entrance also accept bulk copy cards (which are sold at the Circulation Desk).
Two desktop computers, known as Early Literacy Stations, pre-loaded with educational software applications, are available for use inside the Children’s Room by children and their parents or guardian. A Google Chromebook may be obtained by a parent or guardian at the Circulation Desk if a child requires access to the internet.
The copier located closest to the YA Room can be used to transmit a document via fax to a domestic number. Cost is $1.50 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page. Fees for faxing are collected at the Circulation Desk.
The copiers located near the entrance can be used to scan documents or photos to a compatible USB flash drive. The fee is $0.05 per page.
The digital microfilm scanner is unavailable while the Library undergoes renovation.
